Ticket Booth and Concession Stand

A while back I took a commission to build a cabinet and bar for a basement home theater. The cabinet had was for storage, but was to look like an old fashion ticket booth. In the bar we incorporated a glass display window for candies, like you might find in a movie theater.

Here's a hot tip for home owners trying to save some money, but also wanting high end products. For this bar, the client (at my suggestion) picked out her granite from the dealer's scrap pile (pieces left over from large slabs already paid for by other clients). They found pieces they liked and purchased them for just the cost of labor. The granite tops on this bar cost about $300 or about $20 per square foot! The same idea could work for a bathroom vanity or a small kitchen island.
