A Small Project

This morning I'll be starting a new project, an entertainment center for a client. This project is a variation on another I did last year for another client.

This is the original. It's stained oak and includes flipper doors for the TV, roll-out shelves for CD/DVD storage, and a center magazine rack (not pictured).

The construction includes a few features specifically for audio/video use, such as removable back panels and integrated wire chases for electronic components. To reduce vibrations, the back panels are divided up individually for each compartment and those which are fixed are captured in dadoes and adhered using hot-melt glue to fill any voids.

The new cabinet will be slightly different, as I try never to duplicate any project. But it will be similar enough that most people will think they are the same.

Over the next few days I will be posting photos and progress reports to show the process that goes into making a cabinet like this.
