Moving on to the next step

Finally, after a week of staining, the doors are done! Well, most of them. The two part doors for the corner drawer cabinet aren't done yet because they have to be fitted first.

So, today I spent a couple hours boring hinge holes in the doors. Then I wrapped them up and delivered them, along with all the shelves, to the job sight. Not a very exciting day, but a big visible step forward. Now I can begin assembling face frames for the cabinets.

The plan is to cut all the face frame parts, prep all the joints, then assemble all the base cabinet frames. Then one day of staining on those, after which the base cabinets can be assembled, delivered and installed.

Then do it all again with the wall cabinets, again with the oven/refrigerator cabinets, and again with the island. This is the main problem with having limited shop space, not being able to stack and store an entire kitchen worth of cabinets at once. But my clients are understanding, and know they're getting something truly unique out of the deal, not to mention a great price.

Of course, if things continue as they have been, a larger space is in the future for FCW. So keep on dreaming up new projects and sending them my way and you can be part of that future :)
